Lovin’ the new Anschutz Cancer Hospital
Hi everyone. Mom made the move to Colorado to start treatment with a new team of doctors at the Anschutz Cancer Hospital at the University of Colorado Cancer Center. The new facility is so beautiful, clean and big. Mom, Jay and Grams met with the new oncologist, Dr. Madeleine Kane. She has a long career in cancer research and focuses on treatment of the liver. Mom and Jay were so impressed that their appointment started on time! They fixed Mom right up (fixed her groshong catheter that was bothering her and redressed her wound) and want to get her started with treatment as soon as possible. She will start chemo on July 9th. They will also be doing a PET Scan of Mom’s entire body to make sure their isn’t any cancer hiding anywhere that wasn’t picked up on the CT Scans done in Texas. The PET Scan shows much more detail than a CT Scan. Also, Dr. Kane is going to present Mom’s case to the Cancer Board on Wednesday and put it up for discussion to see if any one else has suggestions for how to treat Mom’s cancer most effectively.
It is also a nice change to have all of the facilities you could imagine in one place! Mom can go from the oncologist to the wound facility to a surgeon all in the same building. There is even a pharmacy on site!
